Trauma lands in our bodies and minds in so many ways. Over time it can stay the same, or get better or worse. A bit of two steps forward and three steps back is par for the course. The benefits of asana (the physical practice) for the trauma survivor can be immeasurable, how working with the physical body can tangibly help someone reacquaint themselves with sensation and over time, build up feelings of agency. Working with the body first can sometimes be the way in towards other yoga practices that are empowering. In this workshop, we will discuss and explore working with asana, and also other practices of yoga that have the potential of helping folks move beyond their pain. These other practices include chanting, philosophy, and pranayama.
Join Sangeeta for a workshop on Moving through Trauma. She'll start with some discussion on yoga for trauma and conclude with a full yoga practice.
A portion of the proceeds from this workshop are going to The Practice Coalition.
